Summer season of festivals !

Montréal, it stinks. And everything moves fast. There’s construction everywhere. Everywhere I tell you. Some find it intoxicating, I now find it dizzying, but there is one ‘but’ : the festivals.

Not one Montréalais has the right to be bored at night during the summer, not a single one. There os something for all walks of life and all the time. In each corner of the city (and we are speaking of the rather large city of Montréal), every night, from June to September, it is possible to find a free event (or almost free) that will tempt anyone !

As a treat for working hard in the house the last two weeks, we decided to go to the Parc Jean-Drapeau de l'Île Ste-Hélène (next to Longueuil, Where they have la Ronde (amusement park), and where they hosted l'Expo 67 !) to explore the Week-ends du monde ! It is an event that lasts two weekends, that allows us to discover new cultures, wether it be via their food, shows, every day activities, etc.

Instead of taking the transit system, we chose to walk to come back home. As is the case every Wedsenday and Saturday during the month of July, the is the International fire works festival. It is a pyromusical competition. Because of the 15000 spectators that show up at every show, police close down on of the few remaing ‘good’ bridges so we can watch the fireworks from there.

All that is the story of one night. Imagine what we will have to say once we come back from the Just for Laughs festival, from the hot air ballon festival, the beer festival, the Halloween festival or the snow festival, well you get the drift like we said festivals are everywhere here !
